Participants: 36 undergraduate students and 2 faculty members
Rekindling Global Connections
National Institute of Technology-Anan College (Anan KOSEN) rekindled its international exchange program with National United University (NUU) in Taiwan after a four-year hiatus. This program, held from March 4-7, 2024, aimed to cultivate globally competent engineers and enhance students’ international awareness. Funded by the National Institute of Technology’s “FY2024 Higher Vocational School Students’ Overseas Activities Support Program,” the program saw 36 undergraduate students and 2 faculty members participate in a rich cultural and academic exchange.
Immersion in Taiwanese Culture and History
Participants engaged in a variety of activities designed to deepen their understanding of Taiwan. They honed their language skills through Chinese language lectures at NUU, while historical and cultural visits provided a glimpse into the nation’s rich tapestry. These visits included the Confucius Temple, the Taiwan Presidential Palace, the Wushan Dam, and the National Palace Museum.
Fostering Collaboration and Understanding
The program also emphasized student interaction. Engaging in group-based independent research (B&S program) and student exchange meetings fostered collaboration and understanding between Anan KOSEN and NUU students. Additionally, city tours provided a platform for cultural immersion and personal connection.

For many participants, this program marked a life-changing experience. Returning home, they shared valuable takeaways such as the challenges and rewards of cross-cultural communication and a broadened world perspective.
- Deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture and history
- Enhanced cross-cultural communication skills and global perspectives
