6月24日(月)に開催された明正寮教養講座の茶道教室に，ドイツのオストファリア応用科学大学からの特別聴講学生デズモンドさんが参加しました。
表千家の林 初音先生のご指導のもと，作法の基本や茶の湯の文化を知り，お茶を点てるプロセスから禅の精神にも通じる世界を体験することができました。
6月28日(金)には，同じく教養講座の華道教室に参加しました。
池坊の青木先生のご指導のもと，生け込みを行ったあと，おのおのの作品を鑑賞しました。華道体験を通して，古来から日本人が大切にしてきた日本の四季を味わう和の心を学ぶことができました。
グローバル推進室での日本語教室にも参加しており，茶道体験や華道体験を通じて低学年の学生ともコミュニケーションを図る良い機会となりました。

Exchange Student Desmond Takes Tea Ceremony and Flower Arrangement Classes

Desmond, an exchange student from Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Germany, participated in the tea ceremony class on Culture Lecture Series held on Monday, June 24^th,2024.

Under the guidance of Ms. Hatsune Hayashi of the Omotesenke school, he learned the basics of etiquette and the culture of tea, and experienced the world of zen spirit through the process of making tea.

On Friday, June 28th,2024 he also participated in the flower arrangement class of the Meisei Dormitory Culture Lecture Series.

Under the guidance of Ms. Aoki of the Ikenobo school, he arranged flowers and then appreciated each other’s work. Through the flower arrangement experience, he was able to learn the Japanese heart of appreciating the four seasons that the Japanese people have cherished since ancient times.

He is also participating in the Japanese language class at the Global Promotion Office. All the events were a good opportunity for him to communicate with younger students through the tea ceremony, flower arrangement and Japanese class experiences.
